Gothic Road Loop

An epically beautiful gravel ride in Crested Butte

Not much to say about this ride except that it is insanely beautiful. Beginning and ending in downtown Crested Butte, this 30 mile loop takes you through some incredible high mountain landscapes on well maintained gravel roads. There is even a ghost town and high alpine lake along the way.

Most of the 3,000 feet of climbing is completed in the first half of the ride, leaving you with a casual and rewarding cruise back into town. For a place so well known for mountain biking it seems like Crested Butte often forgets about its abundant options for drop bar adventures. During our time we only encountered one other gravel bike but saw countless other beautiful gravel roads.

If you are looking to spend some extra time in the area (and you should) you can also consider one of the many options for camping along this route. This is definitely one of our favorite rides yet. It seemed like we were stopping every few minutes to snap photos, so we’ll just let those speak for themselves.
